THEM: If it was important, you'd remember ME: [has ADHD] I frequently forget that close friends of mine exist
Me: messaging a friend that I haven’t talked to in over a year as though I had beers with them last night.
As the father of an ADHD child and retired army NCO, it took a long time to learn the memory of a smart person could be that way. At one point I said "you can to remember things that are important to you. You never forget your phone." Didn't realize that, for them, it's a dopamine delivery system.
Ugh, also "you need to figure out how to remember it yourself and not rely on other people to prompt you" yeah clearly that doesn't work, so can we just get to the part where the other person says I Did X instead of me remembering to check that they did X so I can do Y?

This is why so many of my friendships/relationships drift off into nothing.
It’s a whole thing.
🎶And sometimes I forget their naaames!🎶 *jazz hands*
it’s amazing how people don’t realize that statement has no power over us
"If it was important, you'd remember" Here's the thing though. I won't.
