Then you can add a 'Brush Holder' to a mesh object which contains a stack of brushes referenced from the world. And which then applies them to that object in stack order with the same blend modes & opacity settings as Photoshop!
Oh and the proposal would be for Godot Engine - just in case it isn't clear. I first tested the idea in Houdini and then made a prototype in Unity.
