It's frustratingly hard to boycott P&O though, especially if you also avoid flying and want to travel between the Netherlands and the North of England. Tips on how to do so at a reasonable cost welcome.

This is unlikely to be an original take, but P&O Ferries *is* a rogue operator, it fragrantly and massively broke the law by sacking its unionised workforce and admitted this, and a Labour government should be holding them to account rather than making embarrassed excuses to curry favour. Obvs.

Would be appalling if UK Govt were to approve, against scientific advice, further use of a pesticide that the Labour party promised to ban outright during the election www.theguardian.com/environment/...

UK may approve bee-killing pesticide despite election promise to ban it

Exclusive: Environment groups urge government to stick to its promises and refuse pesticide application

Is it? The IPCC is clear that there is no 1.5 degree scenario without carbon dioxide removal, but there are different ways of going about this, including big reforestation programmes, which I suspect might offer better value for money than CCS given its record so far.

If it's economically unproven and directs money away from other things that could cut emissions faster, then the govt shouldn't be spending the money on it. Which makes your post seem less useful than soup being thrown on (the glass covering) a painting, frankly.
