As he is currently doing tv interviews to promote the book, I wonder if any interviewer confronts him with this behavior. Those that I've seen haven't addressed it.
By waiting until it's no longer necessary, they've also devalued their 'news.' Anything released after Nov 4th is going to be meaningless. Whether he wins or loses, the value of that information will have passed.

Access treads a tightrope. Immediate reporting compromises the next story. The subjects are in the thrall of their own ego, their story being told by the greats like Woodward. Once they see it in the light of day, they are horrified and generally shut up. A trade-off, for sure. But look what we got
