Huh i guess it’s an existential threat to democracy to purge humanities and police thought on university campuses— but only in Russia

To please Putin, universities purge liberals and embrace patriots

Russian university leaders are imbuing the country’s education system with patriotism to favor Putin, quashing Western influences and dissent.

Incredible piece: "We do not protest the war on Gaza because we have an abstract right to do so; we protest it because it is one of the great moral atrocities of our lifetimes and because the widespread refusal to admit this in America is an atrocity in its own right." nymag.com/intelligence...

i think it should be a bigger story that NYC’s public libraries are now being forced to close on Sundays due to budget cuts while the NYPD spends 95% of the Library system’s total budget to get new encrypted radios that prevent people from knowing when the cops kill people

The NYPD is spending $390 million on a new, encrypted radio system

The public and news reporters will no longer be able to listen in.

LA Times editorial board coming out for ceasefire and characterizing IDF campaign as one of "indiscriminate death and destruction". Wouldn't have expected anything like this www.latimes.com/opinion/stor...

Editorial: Cease-fire now. The killing in Gaza must stop
Editorial: Cease-fire now. The killing in Gaza must stop

Israel's quest to root out Hamas has inflicted indiscriminate death and destruction on Gaza and Palestinian civilians. Humanitarian pauses are no longer enough.
