I think small things like these - by Claire Keegan is the perfect Xmas read. Sad and tense and gentle.

Truth & Dare by @suchmayer.bsky.social is my fave "fiction" of the year. Properly dazzling, like a hypermodern Angela Carter 💥 Alphabetical Diaries by Sheila Heti is a stunner too and will be high on next year's list; but it's not out in the UK until after Xmas.
