It's interesting Vance admitted he lied. What's the strategic value in that? I wonder if he'd rather go off-message and risk the pogrom that's ostensibly helping his campaign, rather that admit he, personally, is stupid and gullible.

In post-truth America, the right seeks to discredit the entire concept of fact-checking. They contend that being accurate on details obscures the larger truth, and that narrative is more important.

The strategic value? That's not really the point anymore. The point is they're prodding people into doing things to instill fear in their enemies. To push out people they don't want around. ... and it works.
