Thank you (& all the authors!) for writing this. I was bombarded w/ all the same pronouncements from year 1 & struggled for years bc of shaming around my preferred path. Now I live a life I love & try to let all doc students I meet know there are far more options than what they hear from advisors.

We’re mandated to assign only institutional license e-books for class texts, but then the institution doesn’t purchase enough licenses for students to read! 43 students, 6 e-books. No wonder most aren’t prepared for class!
