I think I have some new followers since codes went away! I'm an educator focusing on instructional design, neurodiversity, and disability studies. I do lots of public work about neurodiversity, disability, and HigherEd. Feel free to find me on LinkedIn or my website too www.sarahemilysilverman.com
Open and free higher education
Yes! The talk is a lot about history of neurodiversity, and not about higher ed specifically. I have had a bunch of k-12 educators come and get something out of the talk

I wrote this last week after mulling over a bunch of conversations about how “inclusive teaching” work can be substantive/not performative. I don’t think I’m the 1st person to think (or even write down) these ideas, but sharing in case it could be helpful sarahemilysilverman.com/2024/01/05/t...
Note: This post is based on a recent LinkedIn post I wrote which I got some great feedback on. I am hoping to expand on the ideas here in a longer essay soon. Cover image by Oleg Laptev on Unsplash Re...
VERY important caveat: As I wrote, its likely there are ND people out there who'd benefit from very different or contradictory supports than the ones I mention. Probably the best policy is to ask potential guests if they have any specific needs that you can help meet when you start working together
I've been doing more guest speaking lately, and had a few thoughts on working w/neurodivergent speakers. Many campuses are (rightly) looking for speakers w/lived experience of neurodivergence, but might not know how to approach the interaction inclusively sarahemilysilverman.com/2023/12/20/t...

I'm hosting a new installment of my "intro to neurodiversity for educators" workshop in the new year. I think of it as part of my quest to introduce more faculty to disability history. If you're curious about the history of the terms neurodivergent and neurotypical, this is for you! Links in thread!
I am also planning a public version of this talk on zoom for next semester!
I feel very strongly that educators should learn about disability politics and history. I've done my "Introduction to neurodiversity for educators" to help support this. Perhaps a shameless plug, but if you or someone you know is interested, I'd love to talk! sarahemilysilverman.com/workshop-an-...
Please find a description of this workshop below and contact me if you are interested in bringing this learning opportunity to your campus or organization. Neurodiversity is becoming a popular topic i...
