At some point people conflated "Natives in a region actually knew how to manage the land and weren't just winging it off of random bullshit like Anthropologists insisted in the 19th century" devolved into "Every Native has levels in Ranger or Druid."

something I have had hammered into me by working in software for the past fifteen years is that it's impossible to overstate how important a smooth and intuitive user experience is most people want things to Just Work, the second you put any tech barrier up you lose 90% of users

Less than a quarter the cost! It pays for itself four times over! On top of just being the obviously right thing to do, functionally and morally!

Denver is a city that makes solid arguments for incrementalism. Sure, fight the big fights. But also, have some people working very hard for a long time on small improvements that won't be sexy news stories... ...and people's lives are just better.

I swear to God, the police are such a weird mix of monstrosity and incredibly petty shittiness. Like, sure, they're the armed enforcers of white capital, they'll be full of domestic abusers, every one is either abusive or enables that abuse, But also, they park in bike lanes and expect discounts.

Here in Denver, you're now seeing STARs vans everywhere - "Support Team Assisted Response." It's a medic and a social worker, both trained in mental health and addiction support, showing up instead of police. They offer support to homeless folks, people in crisis, and folks in altered states.

No shade on Cooper's MIL but for decades and decades all names, phone numbers, and addresses were public by default. They came to your house in a book. It's very weird to me that people have forgotten this.

This is how I feel about basically all games. Puzzles I don't really mind, but I detest most games. Why are you asking me to learn things or think strategically, this was supposed to be fun.
