I have recently learned that falcons are, genetically speaking, closer to parrots than they are other raptors, and thus from now on I shall refer to falcons solely as "tactical parrots"

A very handsome tactical parrot, also known as a perigrine falcon. Also, because some bird nerd will mention it in the replies, it's not that falcons and parrots are directly related, it is that they share a common ancestor, so technically speaking "tactical parrot" is incorrect. I'm putting this in the alt text so you know I know this already. But, look: COMEDY, okay?

There's a great book, A Most Remarkable Creature, about caracaras, which are like the falcon/parrot bridge species

I've been calling them "sharp parrots" ever since I learned that, but I like "tactical parrots" better
