brought in since the previous picture was taken. It looks to me like the river continued to erode the bank, causing further collapse. In this picture you can see pavement hanging over nothing. That is a real danger with erosion, even without pavement in the mix. 2/?

I grew up along Lake Michigan, in a time when water levels were high, and houses going over bluffs was not uncommon. I‘ve seen almost half a house hanging over empty space. My parents drummed into me *hard* how dangerous the bluff edges could be, and how you wouldn‘t know they were under-cut. 3/?
