Some people (not me, but there seemed to be quite a few in comment sections) find the protag annoying at the start but a) she’s literally 16 and b) the character development is so so good it is 100% worth it. Like genuinely some of the best character development I’ve seen in any media in general

Idk about how good it is for inspiring a new game or anything like that but one of my favourites is The Outside by Ada Hoffman - it’s such an interesting take on cosmic horror/sci-fi imo. The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie is also fantastic
