I think we absolutely should starve Twitter of users with the hopes of making it go the way of MySpace, which is why I never post there. But the idea that Twitter is irrelevant and wields no power or influence (at least at this moment) is delusional.

Twitter, yeah, bad... certainly bad-ish but if you don't completely overhaul your judiciary - there will be no US, in practice or by definition.

Is any serious person actually claiming this?
To give just one example...I follow two local GOP orgs on Facebook--the Oregon GOP and the Cambria County (PA) GOP page. At this point, the majority of the memes and false stories they post come from Twitter, where they've been beta tested for effectiveness.

I'm surprised not to see any renewed effort to discourage institutional users of Twitter, now that it is an openly partisan platform making in-kind donations to the Trump campaign.
Agree with this whole thread except I don't think anyone here is saying that if we ignore Twitter it will go away. I think we're just saying we don't personally have to be on there just to help the journos and politicians on there do their jobs, especially since Elon will just bury our posts.
Twitter is a symptom, not the disease. (although you should still avoid the symptom, of course)
