i too watched dunkey in high school, but then i started focusing on how to games actually work instead of just shitting on them. turns out, when you take time to learn what goes into developing games instead of tearing down games you dislike for views, you become a better, more well-rounded person.

I feel like I've noticed recently that game environment and character art is REALLY good, like amazingly good, across platforms, that what is in games is mostly super polished, and that a TON of content is cut to make the deadline or squeaked out in minimum viable state with very little in between.

I love AVGN but I really think that he set up the entire internet for this failure that we're now in, he created such a clear example of how to use "outrage at videogame" to => lots of views. The outrage style works so well on the algorithm, and its easy to write comedy from frustration. But toxic.

So so true. I occasionally run into fans of these type of creators spouting falsehoods when I’m playing with friends and it’s fun to tell them “no sorry that’s wrong” only to be asked “heh how would you know?” “Well I made the system so I’m pretty sure I would know.”
