It hurts to think about how Kawaki should have freed Naruto to be trained by him, the man he loves for saving him, but instead, he has to go to Amado, the man who experimented on him, modified and is still using his body, for power. This can't go anywhere good for Kawaki's development.
Adoption trauma is depicted so well in Boruto. Fiction has a way of throwing orphans and discarded children around to kickstart a plot. As a series, Boruto actually grapples with what that experience means.
