This was both hilarious and so true! I especially love the mswl for closed agents; my personal pet peeve. That & agents who participate in pitch events - but say they're closed to queries & to send when they re-open in the future. How about you just wait until you're taking queries to like pitches?!

You and me both. And if I get some stuff crossed off my list, my treat will be to start your book which has patiently been waiting for me to open 🤗

Just found a few Margaret Atwood quotes in a notebook from when I saw her speak in 2019. “I was a model citizen. I was brainwashed by the Brownies.” “I’m not Canada’s biggest export. Canada’s biggest export is toilet paper.” 💙📚

My latest Guardian Books cartoon.

Title: Attracting new customers to our bookshop with rebranded bookshelves.
Image: In a bookshop four customers (a young person, a music fan, a beachgoer and a horse) browse the shelves. The sections are labelled TikTok, HipHop, FlipFlop and ClipClop.

First trade review is up today for THE ONES WHO COME BACK HUNGRY and ZOMG 😍💀😍💀

"An atmospheric, deeply contemplative tale...Berube mines the chill factor of a wintry, icy landscape for maximum tension, creating scenes that have both a sense of claustrophobia and endless, unknowanle terror; nowhere is safe." Bulletin for the Center of Children's Books
