Outrageous claim + whatever the top trending subject is + being aired by legit sources with large followings = engagement farming. And it changes by trending subject but it's the usual suspects. They don't believe it. They wouldn't be alive to type it. It's just trolling.
"The media is corrupt" - people who are addicted to that same media thus are feeding it and freely work for it. It's your world. The rest of the world is actually going on without you all. So your world ends in this case and sadly by choice.
Akin to cable news cherry picks imbibed teens (college students in reality) and asks them who the President is then reports the following: "All American teens do not know anything and education is failing us as this person saying the President is Yo Momma's Sweet Ass proves."
Groan: "The whole world (the cluster of users who interact with them on this site) just thinks (doesn't but is trolling) this misinformation (they are being punked)..." And they are fixated on this in turn all while neglecting the fact they're actual target audience isn't here.
