I knew that there was a burst of color already visible from the east coast at 7:45PM Eastern. I was still fighting the sunset, but the pink-red was visible. The second shot was looking SOUTH from Ohio, red aurora so bright it was visible over the moon and setting sun 3/18

I had both my cameras on tripods so I could take 20-30 second exposures. As a bird photographer I normally keep my shutter speed really high, so long exposures are NOT my comfort zone! I was along a rural road, but still had to deal with traffic looking south 4/18
