Reposting some old content from the other site Back in June I sniffed the vendor commands to dump module 02 on **all** modern Western Digital drives made from about 2008 onwards. These are now implemented into FATXplorer letting anyone to unlock orphaned Xbox hard drives, or any ATA locked WD drive

Commands to do this were already known, but after 2009-2010 they changed the firmware to lock down DIR and module access once an ATA password is set, even if you issue a SuperON command. Proprietary hardware solutions held alternative commands which worked in spite of the lock. Now they're free.
