As it is almost October, here are some brilliant #Halloween picturebooks for you. The last few are a bit dark. They are all fab though.
What a beautiful book… Love Fairytales and think all children should know them. This version of “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” by #SandraDieckmann are all wonderfully told and stunningly illustrated. They carry that bit of darkness that all the best versions have. Totally recommended.
Loved being part of the panel to longlist these for The UKLA book awards. We looked at over 150 amazing books and whittled them down to this very special collection. Everyone of them is a winner and would be brilliant in school. #UKLA#UKLABookAwards2025#TeacherBookAwards
Really proud that some of the letters sent to our school by brilliant illustrators are going to be part of an exhibition at our local museum/art gallery celebrating illustration.
Love this wonderful insight into an inventor’s process… “The Running Machine” by Keith Negley is a fab story of how Karl Drais driven by necessity created the first bicycle. The trail and error approach of an inventor is wonderfully realised. Great stuff. #PicturebookPage
It’s open. The Enquire Trust field study centre in East Whitby has opened its doors. Thank Adam Lyth for officially opening the centre. We can’t wait for the first trust groups to visit next week How brilliant that lots of children from across the trust get to experience wonderful Whitby.
Well “The Dinosaur Next Door” by DC Litchfield is an absolute treat. It’s a truly lovely story about friendship, acceptance and letting people live the life they want to live. It’s beautifully told, magically illustrated and there are dinosaurs. #PicturebookPage How does he do that with the light?
Absolute best #nonfiction book this year. “History of Information” by Chris Haughton is a stunning exploration of the history of communication, brilliantly researched and stunning illustrated in a way that make it really clear. Just fantastic
Library resorted and ready to go… lots of new books, lots of brilliant books and now with an added really comfy sofa It just gets better every year Love our Library!
