Some people my age think that their alienation and emptiness stems from looking at their phones all day, and that they can live a more meaningful life if they could just break free of the algorithmic cycle. But those feelings have been with us ever since humanity had begun to think.

Of course it's good to avoid the sewage that's omnipresent in the digital age. But a dopamine detox isn't going to make you experience how you're imagining joy felt before you held a phone. What would you do if you go out on a walk and find that the world still looks grey?
