Meh, Brexit was in large part fueled by the insane delusion that the UK's "native" population was sufficient for labour services, and the shortfalls being plugged by immigration were caused by British-born people being lazy. That thinking is still rife among Brexiteers, who remain influential.

These days, my friends have made me feel very appreciated for the care and support I show them. I can't help doing this, being helpful is a part of how I am made up, but I really, really love my friends and it's brought me a lot of healing to know that I can be useful and not be abandoned.

I feel a deep sense of empathic sadness with objects that get discarded, particularly ones whose purpose was to bring joy or comfort. Seeing abandoned toys makes me especially sad. I think this comes from my formative experiences of trying to be helpful, but being rebuked and made to feel useless.

I missed out on the Empty Spaces community back in the day, but have made many friends who were once a part of it (they mostly say I got lucky to miss the almighty messes that came out of it). I do find myself drawn to some of the aspects, particularly symoathy with inanimate objects.
