this is why the best lesson re: the trust thermocline (google it) is simply to not breach it in the first place. disrupting online/creator communities does widespread damage even beyond the communities directly disrupted. kicking the hornet's nest is just rarely beneficial for anyone
incidentally, the situation is not that unlike the long decline of Twitter under Elon; there are a number of replacements, but none of them are perfectly ideal, and the exodus results in a scattering of communities and (most likely permanent) lost engagement. the situation really fucking sucks!
the scattering of this massive hub of gamedevs, even if it's individually beneficial for most engines that receive those devs, seems bad for the industry as a whole. if there was a more user-friendly way to modularly build an engine out of third-party parts it wouldn't be so bad
same with Godot, which is really good, but from what I've seen it's just not ready for primetime yet
Unreal, Godot, etc. will get many of the fleeing Unity devs, but no engine will get EVERYONE. even Unreal's community seems, at least to me, to be quite a bit smaller than Unity's, even if it's still pretty large relative to basically any other engine
i appreciate that you made james even more queer but idk, he feels... too hot. like he should be dorkier, idk
can't believe this skeet is how I found out lol
I think the real question is, is this actually a function of how the site works? Or is it just because of the smaller community? Because I'm worried that once Bluesky finally goes public, the magic will be ruined
'tis a shame the adult content tag only applies to media, this tweet deserves it to shield the masses from my Edgy But Hip Humor(tm)
