I think if you are already experiencing pain in your family emotional structure and you recognize that same structure in politics, instead of reaching to change any of it, you accept it.

There is punishment for trying to change it or speaking differently and rewards for acceptance and even escalation in rare cases. It's not fun to live in a Skinner Box but if you do, your emotional and intellectual maturity will always be that of a very unhappy toddler.
