I agree it’s a squishy word but e.g when people say “The West has no economic growth” they’re not talking about the US, where growth is high, and when people say “The West can’t build infrastructure”, they’re not talking about continental Europe where infrastructure costs and quality are better, etc
Huh, i guess i haven't seen "the west has no econ growth" but maybe that's mostly because i get my international growth comparison from PolitanoSky
Like i am still not fully convinced i understand what the "global south" consists of, i am fairly certain academic people i spoke to had an understanding but don't think the average online vitizen who uses it has any clue
"West" as "english speaking world" seems consistent with how people sometimes use the word though? Like it seems a squishy word
Yeah, I used to go to a Men's group and the sentiment of "they don't allow Bibles in schools, but they allow transgenders *shakes head*" is probably word for word something I've heard
Also, fwiw biden has proven to be a much better* president than obama. *i know Palestine activists are gonna rightly get mad about how atrocious Biden has been on this but i would answer with Obamas foreign policy failures
Ugh. I knew someone who went to Exeter. Wouldn't consider them a friend
Unironically...this is a good take and all you need
As you know, I have many strong thoughts on this. Starting with: Christina Romer was right & Obama should have listened to her, instead of Summers & Emanuel. And we could have avoided a Lost Decade.
Also..."people get their news from X" being a bad thing is kind of nonsensical. People get their news from cable, twitter, youtube, tiktok, etc... because you get news whereever you spend time. People also get news from random nitwit talks at get together, thats the worst imo
