They initially tried to argue that it was a First Amendment issue. As if that was self-evidently true. Which is a pretty remarkable position for a non-governmental association to take, and further evidence of capitulation to the right’s crazy take on the 1st.

So like, if my paper proposal to APSA gets rejected, I can now cry First Amendment?! Unless their new policy is to accept literally every paper/panel submission...
