I’ve come onto campus for a day. The face to face meeting I’m here for is delayed as someone is stuck on the motorway. Everyone else in the open plan area are in Teams meetings. The noise is incredible. Reminds me of when I worked in a call centre. Not sure this is more productive than remote.

it's not. It's good when everyone is in & no-one is on a teams call; you can have the informal discussions, but also get on with 'other' stuff. Open plan offices are rarely conducive to effective work, esp. when role requires both thinking / reflective/individual time, and group time.
