Right-wing think tanks & educators are very into cogsci & cognitive load theory. If I was a well-intentioned cog scientist, I’d be alarmed at the proliferation of right-wing framing erected around it & do some soul-searching. Marginalized communities are warning about the scientism & normativity.

Failure to do structural thinking is a major obstacle to inclusion. “Don’t swallow the bunting” (derived from a Frank Zappa quote) is my new rallying call to refuse deficit ideology and harm reduction theater and engage in systems thinking and structural ideology.

"They don't let their disability stop them" is not helpful, kind, nor a compliment; it celebrates only exceptional disabled ppl, implicitly judging those who aren't. Disability can stop one, no matter how strong/determined, as can inaccessibility, systemic discrimination, and societal prejudices.
