I don't get to go to a lot of concerts anymore. Very glad I got to see Caroline Rose with members of the London Contemporary Orchestra yesterday! The arrangements for Miami and Love/Lover/Friend added a lot to already great songs

I have been playing a lot more #UFO50, which remains as outstanding as the first impressions suggested. Progress pictured. I really enjoyed getting good at Pingolf!

The main menu of UFO 50, showing five rows of ten game disks. These are coloured blue, gold or cherry red depending on progress. There are seven cherry disks and a further eight gold disks.

Hello, new followers! I'm the developer behind VIDEOVERSE, which is a ✨very topical✨ narrative game about social gaming networks and technology!! I'm currently working on the Japanese translation (amongst other things!) but you can check it out here: store.steampowered.com/app/2079180/...

I played the video game of London 2012, the UK #1 for three weeks while the Olympics happened here. I used it as a chance to think about how much of the story I'm following is specifically British at this point (not much!): www.superchartisland.com/london-2012

Not the sort of torment I was expecting, really. "I’m convinced there must be some other game called Planescape: Torment out there, because the game I cleared was one of the most misogynistic wastes of time I’ve ever experienced." kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com/2024/10/08/p...

Planescape Torment: Never meet other people’s heroes

[Content warning: This article cites misogynistic dialogue in several places and also refers to in-game scenes of relationship-related abuse.] I’ve had my eye on this RPG for a long time now,…

Not only does Sleeping Dogs (2012) feature the voice of future Oscar-winner Emma Stone, there is some incredible meta foreshadowing in one of the first lines spoken to her character being "you thinking of becoming Chinese?"

A screenshot from Sleeping Dogs (2012). Main character Wei Shen is on a motorbike with a white woman called Amanda (voiced by Emma Stone) behind him. He asks "So what brings you to Hong Kong? You thinking of becoming Chinese?"
Screenshot of an Entertainment Weekly article from 2015 titled "I'm not buying Emma Stone as an Asian-American in Aloha" by Chris Lee.

The text reads:
"Accepting Emma Stone as an Asian-American in Aloha requires a certain suspension of disbelief and no small amount of magical thinking. In the Hawaii-set romantic comedy-drama, she portrays Allison Ng: an aggressively peppy Air Force fighter pilot of Chinese-Hawaiian-Swedish decent who falls for an existentially angst-y military contractor played by Bradley Cooper."

By 2012, seven different Tom Clancy games had reached #1 in the UK charts - more than Sonic or Zelda or Tomb Raider. I wrote about their paranoid simplicity and their approach to war as a video game: www.superchartisland.com/tom-clancys-ghost-recon-future-soldier
