There's been much criticism of the government's CCUS investment. It is fair to say it's economically unproven and directs money away from other things that could cut emissions faster like insulation -- or pay for other stuff like schools and prisons. But the science says we're gonna need it.

ICYMI: yesterday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer penned an oped in The Sun titled "I will not sacrifice Great British industry to the drum-banging, finger-wagging Net Zero extremists."

To keep warming below 2 degrees -- and definitely 1.5 -- we're going to have to hit negative emissions in the middle of this century. Generation and industrial emissions just aren't falling fast enough and no amount of soup thrown at paintings is going to change that.
