Community moderation will be effective if done on a small number of people, think subreddits. Bluesky's nirvana was right before the big influx of people last week. That size of the pool was perfect imo. People are disinsentivised to post abhorrent content when in smaller group.

It would be great to see a combination of community based self moderation and admin moderation

I think it’s possible to moderate larger pools and having more people around is fun, but you’re just probably going to have to start paying some people who know what they’re doing to be some of the moderators
