Haven’t posted much about the new job, but I’ll say that I’m dealing with a scale of problems I’ve not seen before. Last week one db had just a few deadlocks - 10k over two days. Creating the correct index for the queries dropped it to zero. Celebrate the small wins.

When we worked there on contract the level of scale was somewhat unreal, and that was back office. Unfortunately the challenges of actually fixing things was as difficult as the problems were.
