I'm not fully caught up with Grendizer U but I'm at the point where the show asks the big questions, like "can we have a super robot show episode without any super robots in it" and "is it possible to jump the shark in a wedding dress"

I think the best part of this episode is where a character looks straight at the camera and says "Duke Fleed is a dopey, well-meaning goof" which kind of sums up his character in this show. And that's certainly a direction I wasn't expecting at the start, but it's where they went

I'm three eps in, and never having seen the original, thinking it might be worth a try based on what I'm seeing in this version. Then I remember how fatally formulaic everything was back then, and realize that I will probably not stay awake through a single episode.

I couldn't even get fully through the first episode. My brain just noped out and I ended up rewatching Shin Mazinger instead. Which is equally incoherent, but in a more bombastic and charming kinda way
