"Won't somebody think of the anaesthetists?"
Capitalism cannot function without workers who are under constant threat of being destitute & homeless. American workers in particular have been fooled into believing that they too can one day be a millionaire, if they work hard enough.
This is hilarious. The Universal Basic Income pros are like, it provides stability, confidence, security, and financial freedom. It improves productivity, physical, and mental health. The cons are like, well, some conservatives think it sounds "socialist." www.businessinsider.com/universal-ba...
Universal basic income gives people recurring cash payments. Read about how UBI works, where it's been tried, and arguments on why it's good or bad.
Holy crap look at all the cool stuff Paul Allen collected www.christies.com/en/stories/g...
100% agree. I spent some time on dairy farms in a previous job. Megalitres is more commonly used in Australia but I always found acre-feet to be more useful in visualising the amount of water. Much more useful than Olympic pools or Sydney Harbours as units of measurement.
Acre-foot is simultaneously one of the most stupid & most useful units of measurement ever created. Stupid because who the hell needs to know how much water is needed to cover an acre to a depth of a foot? Useful because it's difficult to convey how much area a megalitre covers at specific depth
AC three phase amps to kilowatts calculation formula P(kW) = √3 × PF × I(A) × VL-L(V) / 1000 Useful when someone knows how much spare switchboard capacity they have & they want to know what size DC EV charger they can install.
The stampede of village idiots proclaiming these bullshit generators as the future of human thinking, all the while not realising they are headed off the cliff to their doom. After all, who needs critical thinking when you have ChatGPT?
I can guarantee that Starmer's advisors have polling data they will use to justify implementing some slightly diluted version of the former government's shittiest policies.
Shouldn't be that surprised really. Albanese, Marles and Wong are just slightly less shit versions of Morrison, Pyne and Bishop for all their fawning to the Americans.
Australian politics is plagued with this attitude. The Labor party do everything possible to sabotage anything that resembles progressive public policy lest their corporate donors turn off the tap.
This shows clearly that the threat is not simply located in the far right but in mainstream elites like McSweeney who "despise" leftwing alternatives to the status quo more than the far right and would rather stoke the latter while demolishing the former www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
