Another one is Muine Bheag (Bagenalstown previously Moneybeg) v Muine Beag (Moneybeg, Donegal Gaeltacht). Per modern grammar Muine Bheag is correct, but the Moneybeg anglicisations and the living name in Donegal all suggest Muine Beag was the norm in at least two dialects.

On my run this morning at one stage the moon was really low to the horizon and huge, perfectly above the path ahead. Actual breathtaking/gasp scene. i was like “i wish i had my phone to take a picture” then..why. I’d never look at the photo again. To post it, for 3 likes. Brain rot mentality.

The lads in the courts would be a stickler for An CaighdeĂĄn OifigiĂșil, the county councils mainly use Google Translate now so likely same with the TFI.

From the wikipedia Original historic use of the plural form: use of the singular form is a relatively new habit. Even at the beginning of the twentieth century, speakers had the choice of using the plural form ... though na Ceithre ChĂșirt would be more correct according to current language rules.

'Na Ceithre ChĂșirt,' and yet the lady calling out the names of the tram stops says 'Na Ceithre CĂșirteanna' as we approach the Four Courts.
