I have seen so many meteorologists crying while they discuss Hurricane Milton. They’re really shaken and they’re experts. Wow. This feels like the worst kind of turning point in our shared understanding of climate catastrophe. FUCK.
And then there are people like the guy featured from around the 2 min mark here and it’s so tragic. youtu.be/Ao9ix5XjD8Y

it really hammers home how serious this is and that’s…a lot
I was thinking earlier about people who's cars were trashed in Helene. More people with no way to leave
How wide Milton is is somewhat terrifying. I saw an overlay map last night and it's basically going to from the northern part to the southern part of Florida. I could only see incoming flooding to all of Florida based on the overlay.
All the debris piled up from Helene in the streets of Florida is going to wreak havoc once Milton starts throwing it around.
I expect nothing but thoughts and prayers from the Senate until we get to 60.
Nothing will shake the core but they’re losing people.
I'm watching several live feeds all morning and it is starting to come in really fast. Even all the surfers at Naples pier have packed up and headed to higher ground. This thing is an absolute monster. I have a lump in my throat too. 🥺
I agree, it's so scary to see how upset they are. They know people are going to die and they're sick about it.
When I was campaigning on climate change in the early 2000s, I recall American meteorologists (as opposed to climate scientists) as being a bastion of denialism. I'm glad that's changed. Bit too late though.
