This is the article that I'm psyched to share with y'all. The title has gone through a few revisions, but a more accurate one would be "Movies that show why being a teenage girl is Hell"
From Teeth to Ginger Snaps, these horror movies offer a genuine view of the struggle of being a teenage girl with a terrifying twist.
Lots of my faves in here!
yess the horror of girlhood is one of my favorite subjects! i would also add Excision to this list
what a cool selection! I'm so glad to see Ginger Snaps at the first place I love it so much
Oooh, I'm not familiar with Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, will have to check that out!
Company of Wolves is such a wonderful weird time, with both the grossest AND most adorable werewolves on film in different scenes
I love Ginger Snaps!
Fantastic list, as always! I’ve never been a girl, so I’m only reporting the reactions of my students. But at least some of them thought Pyewacket and Hellbender captured some of this space when I taught my horror class
I really appreciated "It Follows" When I was a kid my Mom worked at the health dept. and while my parents talked to me zero times about sex there were STD pamphlets all over the house where I would find them. At 14 I just became kind of paranoid & never wanted to date all through HS.
That was great, what a wonderful list. Glad to see the sublime Ginger Snaps earning that top spot.
Solid list! I wouldn’t recommend it above any of those but if you haven’t seen My Animal, it’d fit in really well.
