There was a semester I did a lot of nighttime commuting from Philly to CT, and crawling out of my car around midnight, looking up at those stars was a big part of sustaining me and getting me through those drives.
Camping was definitely not a hardship, so not comparable, but I would absolutely call those stars sustaining. That's definitely how I felt.
