This is quite a bold take. I wouldn't say *correct*, but certainly bold.
Having gone through the process of Open Sourcing a discontinued product, it's a lot of work, even when you have hardly any assets (Tilt Brush). You have to audit every asset and piece of code to make sure you can legally release it, and with a game that's a lot of assets. It costs a lot to do.
