Finally, reasonable and balanced coverage of the glacier geoengineering efforts that isn't simply goo-goo, in the thrall of the efforts of superheroes trying to sweep in to save the day through tech (which seems unlikely to work and will take decades) www.science.org/content/arti...
Call to study glacial geoengineering stirs up “civil war” among polar scientists
If you have other station designs, I'd love to see too!

What?! Two of Weertman's canonical works were published back to back in the same issue of J. Glac: (1) the tombstone model for basal motion (i.e., Weertman sliding) and (2) the analytical solution for an unconfined, spreading ice shelf. What a year 1957 was! Thanks for your hard work, Weertman!

Among my take home messages is the awesomeness of our leader, Sophie Nowicki. She is tireless, generous, results-oriented, committed to collaboration and shared governance, and drives the highest level scientific direction of the project while also caring for colleagues and managing workshop details
I had a great last week w a really kind, dedicated group of people committed to helping others prepare for increased coastal flooding. These scientists and practitioners set aside their own needs to help build the best possible ice sheet model experiment. The scope of this effort is exciting.
I'm headed to VA to share a few thoughts with the ice sheet community community on what insurers want or need to know about sea level rise. I can only hope this slide would get the @kellyhereid.bsky.social seal of approval…
Good luck!
