I mean in general, I see the takes all over Twitter: if media did their job X or Y way this election would be different. First off, I don’t know that that’s true at all. But secondly, I can’t/don’t write stories hoping or assuming they’ll sway votes.

Yes, I happen to agree on both counts.

That doesn’t mean we don’t report to the best of our abilities and continually try to do better….it just means that if we were doing The Best Reporting Possible (whatever that is) polls *might* look EXACTLY THE SAME as they do now.
