Seeing this one a lot. Fuck this. Writing has always been political for me. I write horror and crime, but I write about otherness, racism, homophobia, injustice, etc. My fiction is shaped by my politics. Been getting hate mail and threats for a decade. Not stopping any time soon.

I didn’t know anything about you until I read this post, but now I’d like to read your books. Maybe the opposite is actually true.

I feel like "artists/scientists should not get political/should stay in their lane" somehow is almost always only brought up when the "getting political" part is perceived to be left wing/progressive. No one ever tells blatantly racist and mysogynistic country singers to "stay in their lane".

If you have to hide what you believe to actually have friends... Maybe what you believe is just a little fucked up. Just a thought.
