I'm increasingly feeling like streaming services are just training their audiences not to get invested in any currently airing tv shows. Seems like a bad long-term plan, but of course, none of those execs care in the slightest about the long-term health of their industries.

btw, idc how much of an anarchist or whatever you are, if you can’t hold your nose for local elections to keep your community safe you’re just a nihilist & you are no good to my people when we’re in danger. voting isn’t enough, but it could have helped the kids who now have to survive this school.

After a low-turnout school board election in which several far-right members joined their ranks, they hired a Christian law firm, decided to begin banning books and reopened the bathroom issue. Board President Matthew Gelazela, who was elevated to his post after previously serving as the board's most vocal bomb-thrower, pointed to Red Lion's discriminatory policies as something to aspire to.
Now, upon the advice of that law firm — the Harrisburg-based Independence Law Center - the board approved spending $8,700 to cut windows so passersby can look into the so-called
"gender-identity" student bathrooms.

first thing walz should have said was: “my opponent will sound smooth and polished with his Yale degree and long career in the rooms of the rich, but every word that will come out of his mouth will be a lie, and it will have to be, because he is defending Donald Trump”

Where does a conflict of interest arise for a woman reporter? One rule seems to be that such conflicts are acceptable when they advance men’s interests and prerogatives of sexual access, and unacceptable when they challenge them.

The same Republicans who are now saying Dems must stop running ads about Trump's Project 2025 to "lower the temperature" were *cheering* on the Texas truckers who tried to murder Harris in 2020 (Harris turned out not to be on the bus, which the attackers didn't realize) bsky.app/profile/moll...

Don't recall the BREAKING NEWS wall-to-wall coverage on this one but it didn't happen the week after a Presidential debate the Republicans desperately want the public to forget about bsky.app/profile/jord...

You could try to fact-check it -- the kid he's referring to wasn't murdered, he died in a tragic crash involving a minivan and a school bus; the latest Clark County HIV rates are from 2022, etc. But the story here isn't that Vance is lying. It's that he's trying to launch a pogrom.

Inexcusable.

Screenshot from a Washington Post article reading:

The claim centers on Springfield, Ohio, a small city a bit southwest of the state capital of Columbus. A screenshot of a Facebook post purportedly from a local resident warns that the author’s neighbor’s daughter’s friend had discovered that her neighbors — supposedly Haitian immigrants — were trying to eat her cat. She also claimed (this time crediting “Rangers & police”) that similar fates were befalling ducks and geese at a local park.

The current Republican presidential candidate, “had a particular affinity for the firing squad.” www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

For Trump, the spectacle was crucial. “He had a particular affinity for the firing squad,” says one of the former White House officials. He’d say, “They need to be eradicated, not jailed.” Administration officials privately referred to this demand as Trump’s “American death-squads idea,” comparing it to the drug-war bloodbath carried out by Filipino strongman Rodrigo Duterte. (The sources, some still very much within Trump’s circle, requested anonymity in order to speak candidly about sensitive conversations.)

That mass executions were not a feature of Trump’s term is a credit to the American justice system and the more sober-minded government officials who were unwilling to be complicit in his mad schemes. These aides and advisers typically put the president off, making vague promises to “look into” the idea, long enough to let Trump’s tyrannical tantrum blow over.
