Just today Elon was promoting some rando guy claiming to be a lifelong Democrat (though if you look through his feed, it was all RFK Jr nonsense), saying that he had to vote for Trump and one of the reasons... was that Trump wouldn't start new wars.
Last year, while out with a large group, one got crying drunk. Right before the actual tears they let their MAGA flag fly. That was surprising (for this group). When I asked why they said it was because Trump did not and will not start wars. This has been one of their talking points for a few years.

People try to overinterpret everything he does as 4D chess, whether for good (his fans) or for evil (his foes). It's much simpler. If he's saying or doing something stupid, it's because *he actually believes that stupid thing*. He's not some 4d-chess-playing genius pulling the strings of the world
