To study the diffusion of moral and moral-emotional appeals, we use fine-grained social media data (Twitter) over four years in Germany (2017–2021) Our findings indicate that politicians do not follow the public. On the contrary, politicians set the tone of public debate.

Very happy to have 2 publications out today: In the first one (led by Daniele Caramani and Siyana Gurova) in @cpsjournal.bsky.social we analyze the framing of world cleavages, using word embedding-based scaling and a cool dataset of Economist articles since the 19th century.
