He wanted everything to the point that he could want for nothing. See, he stood here at the end of the world, alone and eternal, riches before his eyes and powers on his fingertips. Yet all that mortals could get asked for never ended up being enough. But he didn’t know what he could ever ask for from here. Adoration? No, for the prayers of those around him made up enough for that. Love? No, not that. Love was too fickle. He wanted to feel alive — a silly thing for a man who had forever to ask for. And then there was the youth who came with the flowers. All sunshine, all smiles. His polar opposite who only ever knows how to give. And yet, when finally given the meager everything of a person easily, he found out that he cannot take it quite so willingly. He didn’t know what to do with this feeling. And with a ray of sun he never asked for.
