I can agree that the internet is full of resources proclaiming, “this is the easiest way to study japanese!” but at the end of the day what really matters is that you do it. learning a language is what it is
the last time i felt this "oh, i guess this is what edo-period japan might've looked like" was uhh Fate/Samurai remnant, which does a similar thing with tokyo/edo neighborhoods (at a fraction of the prod value and with magic grail wars added)
But the mood is great! There's a huge codex full of bakumatsu information, you're forrest gumping it up with a ton of famous samurai from the era, and entries for every neighborhood in 19th century yokohama. a depth of feeling you only get from KT games that have been doing history games for decades
I get that position, I'm honestly not big on Team Ninja's soulslikes. I believe there was definitely a missed opp there for communication to be like "look it's not as hardcore as Nioh, it's tuned so you don't get punished for playing on easy (which is only a bit harder than normal tsushima)"
