I drove by a retention pond the other day, and thought “there’s a big white boat in there” It was not a boat. White Pelicans have a 9 foot wingspan and stand over 4 feet tall. Being so large, getting airborne is a production and this one needed most of the small pond as a runway!🪶

We’ve had a few frosty mornings lately and this morning there was some fog over the marsh. As the sun started lighting up the far shore, this Great Blue Heron materialized out of the fog and came in for a landing!🪶

Look who came back later in the day!!! It's been extremely dry here for a couple months so I think the birds are extra appreciating the bird baths. I wonder who else might show up? 👀 (Brown Thrasher) #birds 🌿
