As a 30-year veteran of the software industry I could not agree more. The AI bubble cannot go tits up quickly enough. There is so much real work we could be doing if genAI had not cannibalized the entire field.

Machine learning is legitimately fascinating and important! There are some cutting edge breakthroughs on specific data sets that could provide real answers…but it’s not as sexy as “PhD level intelligent autocorrect” I guess, to the money people
